Enough people moaned and groaned so i decided to make a video of the cost of materials to build this 14x14 addition. The prices were as of 12/1/2022 so these prices were definitely better than when I built this in 2021.

Thank you for taking the time to cover the costs. 13k is an absolute deal, I'd image an addition like yours would costs 30k-50k through a contractor. If it wasn't for the Inflated costs, I'd guess your total costs would be around 7-9k.

Wow! This was timely for me. I live in New Hampshire too and I called a well-regarded local contractor to get a ballpark figure for something I was contemplating. For a two story bump out 8' x 12 to maybe 20' on the floor I was told about $100, 000. That's crazy when the house is only about $400, 000. I might just have to do it myself! Thank you for this video!

Most cities including mine required a full foundation concrete footer foundation 42” below grade and crawl space foundation walls, excavation, foundation wall insulation, foundation drainage and sump pump gutters, downspouts, storm drainage connection. Which ended up costing more than your whole addition.

Starting mine this week! 7.5x11.5 add onto the house, construction on piles, and metal walls finishing, + metal roof. I will contract the foam insulation for the floor, after earrings what it cost you and the time and trouble, 1100$ is cheap. Thank you for all the vidéo, you did a superbe job.

Funny we got a contractor word of mouth not writing out bid for a 14x14 living/front porch addition, $30, 000 coulda been more had he actually wrote it out. This is in Racine WI

About $65 per sq-ft, considerably less than contractor pricing which usually starts at $150-$200 per sq-ft. But you can build it much cheaper too depending on the home design. Just about 5-7 years ago you could build a standard add on for $5-10 per sq-ft (I know because I did) at the cheapest and $20+ if you wanted even more fantastic amenities, options style etc.

This is amazing! We were told a 20x20 addition with a foundation would be $150k with a contractor! 😮

This is totally doable if you save up for it for maybe half a year to a full year! Totally something I didn’t even consider but will in the future when ever we go to buy our first home if it doesn’t seem big enough for our needs. God bless y’all!!!

Considering the average new construction is 200 a sq. Or 39k for this. That’s not bad at all.

Curious why the owners used a different siding color on the addition instead of having it blend and match the rest of the house. Beautiful job on the build and great video with clear directions.

My neighbour recently did an addition to their house about this size, plus a new kitchen and finishing the basement, new deck, and some new dormers on the roof. About $400k
