SURVIVING OUR FIRST DESERT STORM OF VAN LIFE (winter in Death Valley)

A winter storm with winds at 40mph rocked our van back and forth all night long! We've gone through a few storms while living in our van but this wind storm takes the cake.

We had a couple great days of weather before we headed into Death Valley National Park but the first night inside the park itself took us by surprise. The winds were rocking our van and it lasted all night long. It was a bit scary at first but ended up being a pretty cool experience and one we will remember. This was a great introduction to Death Valley as the weather here changes frequently and you can go from a parka and thermals to a tank top in just a couple of hours.

After about a year of traveling the country, we finally had our first BIG storm in the van! The winds rocked the van all night long and it made for a pretty interesting night of sleep. We've been hanging out in Death Valley now for over a week and the one thing we have truly learned from our time there is that the weather is UNPREDICTABLE. It is never fun to be in the van in a wind storm. We had a bad storm out first month in vanlife in South Dakota! Very scary but of course made it😌. Glad yall made it through the wind

We went through the same thing in 2020 i believe it was Oklahoma, We stayed at a State park on a lake, Supposed to be one night and a storm rolled in with winds 50 MPH plus, , , My grandkids were freaking out, ,pullrd the slide out, ,,IN and connected the chains to the Yukon, ,Buy it was blowing so hard you could jump and be blown back, , Krazy

I live on an island in the Mediterranean Sea and we are tormented by heavy winds every single year. Winds are so strong they even tear solar panels out of their structures here! It is as bad as that! I would have felt very scared in the van !

I was working all day. It's nice to finally relax and watch your video. I don't think I would ever want to camp at death valley. And I love camping!! Can't wait to see what you have in store for next week. Have fun stay safe.

There's a chant (more like two put together) that really helps me:
