I own 02 gt mustang for 14 years now it's a 5speed I've often thought abt just this my old girl's still got original everything engine n trans but I put 4:10gears n rear end 13 years back n changed speedo gear to fix odometer n headers no cat X pipe 40flowmasters n dyno tuned with updated puter chip my baby's got 320000.0 miles on her always ran mobil1 full syn 10w30 with can Stp n can of restore n Ford motocraft filters she stays clean n yet to move on dip stick

I had one of those. Scrapped counter weights and all. On mine, the bearing was worn away, not the crank. I wonder why? Mine was an auto. There is a video on youtube of a 4l60e pushing, hard, on an engine. You dont realize that stuff can move back and forth so much, until you see the video. I'm pretty sure my trans is what wrecked the thrust in my 01 4.3l

was it using antifreeze ? there was no babbit left on the bearings either

Was making a rattling noise in the engine when it was running

also laying on the clutch at stop lights don't help...it presses the crank forward, rough use will do it.

What was the end result of that motor? Was the block scrapped or did you install all new bearings and now it is running great?

If your thrust bearing fails and the crank rides on the block is the block scrap ?

Is the block still salvageable? have a 327 with bad thrust bearing and would really like to know if i could save it with a new bottom end? Thanks!
