Making Miss Muffet 🕷️, The cutest lil nightmare critter around

Making miss Muffet the spider! 🕷️ To make this little cutie, I cut up and spliced together two thrifted dolls using a two-part synthetic clay (I use Apoxie but there are other brands) to glue everything together as well as build up enough surface so I could add texture with the toothbrush. (And of course I added the fangs and the eyes as well )

Next up I made a two-part mold with silicone masking off the first half with monster clay before flipping it and removing the monster clay to make the second half.

Then I cast it in flex foam but the little hands were too detailed. So I cut them off and glued in regular doll hands and then painted the whole thing with fabric paint and sealed it with liquitex varnish before finally epoxying in magnets so I can put her wherever I want (I ended up adding magnets to the feet as well as the hands though it was a bit overkill for what I needed it made her more positionable)

She looks beautiful and I mean this a hundred million percent unironically.

People joke around about creepy, macabre art being horrifying and ugly or so ugly is pretty or stuff that’ll give them nightmares and “if I saw that coming in my direction” stuff, and I like that. But I think this kind of work you do also needs some genuine appreciation.

The shading is beautiful, it’s extremely creative, the fact that you dedicate your craft to making these creatures that merge human and objects is insanely cool, the facial expression you painted looks so demented and believable. The fact that she’s so small while being vaguely human-shaped kinda puts into perspective what regular dolls are. Kids play with tiny humans with weird proportions and they’re normal and pretty, you don’t think about how bizarre the concept of a doll is until you see a transformed doll like this, or a haunted doll in a horror story. And that’s all amazing!
