There are works in the the Howard Liszt Complete Edition that I listen to all the time. One is of course the ASTONISHING transcription of the Symphonie fantastique, another the Sarabande und Chaconne über Themen aus dem Singspiel Almira, twelve minutes of the most amazing mixture of Händel and Liszt. The opera transcriptions and paraphrases are great too, or those dark, brooding religious pieces. What a terrific legacy.

Been hooked on Liszt ever since I heard El Contrabandista, it's a real barn burner! Hopefully one day there will be some superhuman pianist who can actually play the thing at the written tempo. So happy to see how much coverage you give Liszt on this channel in general, especially the lesser known works. Would also love to see some more videos on Late Liszt (1850s-80s) in the future, the one you did on Campanella's recording of Late Liszt was fantastic. A video on his best operatic transcriptions would also be interesting.

Just bought this on the Hyperion website, because, as Dave says, who doesn't like Spanish music? Even Spanish music by non-Spaniards.

For those of you hesitating, Hyperion has only a few actual CDs left and seems to be heading in the direction of downloads.
