I don't think it's anti work, but anti exploitation.

I use to be a pilot until my co pilot decided that it was a great idea to fall asleep and leave me doing double shifts. I flew the plane into the ocean and immediately quit. I now work with whales and its the most fulfilling experience I've ever had in my life. Don't feel bad about quitting your job there's always other fish in the sea.

I just quit to work for myself. Uber and house inspections . I had no savings, no safety net, and little help and decided to take a leap of faith but today I made my first deal 🤝. Keep going

Nobody has a family,
Nobody has kids,
Nobody has pets,
Nobody has a life cuz we can't afford it.

I recently married and since my husband makes a whole lot more at a job that doesn’t require a lot of work, we could afford to have me finally leave the full-time retail grind. I do work part-time at a library, but I’m mostly a housewife now, able to spend more time doing things like taking on personal studies & hobbies, and working on my mental/emotional recovery from the very stressful life I had before.

On that note, it kind of makes me sad - I have major depression and PTSD, and while this is the sort of arrangement I’ve needed for years, this is the first time I really can afford to live it (especially since my trauma happens to not be military-related). Improving your mental health should not be a privilege but a right. 😢

Quit then worked for myself. Id rather make less money but have the freedom than work in a toxic environment, getting harassed, bullied by my boss, working regular unpaid overtime and constantly struggling with burnout. Ive started to actually earn a lot more working for myself now. Employers are going to have to make traditional job positons much more inviting as there are so many different ways people can earn a living in this internet age.

When my boss tried yelling at me for kicking out a customer who was supposed to be banned for life for trying to rape one of our teenage servers, I quit on the spot, and have found about equal success going into freelance home remodelling with a professional. Don't be afraid to stick it to an evil boss if you have something even half as rewarding lined up with an honorable boss.

Yeah. I think it's at the point now for many families where child care costs more than or about the same as whatever their job pays, so it's not worth it for both parents to work.

I used to work at a tacorea that was kind of like a mom and pop version of Chipotle. I was originally paid $7.75 per hour, but after a few months, they "promoted me" to swing shift assistant manager. This basically meant that I worked as a regular employee under the store manager starting at 10am, and then filled in as the only person there from 2-4pm, then worked as manager until we closed at 10pm. My raise for taking on this extra responsibility: $8.25 an hour. Granted it was time and a half for 20 hours a week, but 60 hour weeks are not fun in a hot kitchen and that pay is way to low for what I was doing. The place was bought by a rich couple who came in and made everyone sign new employment contracts. One of the pages basically said "If you come up with any ideas while working here, we own the idea". As a science nerd and tinkerer, I dabbled in invention and mechanical design, as well as sold artwork on the side. I'm sure they meant something like a recipe, but fuck them for wanting to steal my ideas. So I refused to sign that particular part of the employment contract. That night the manager fired me at the end of a 12 hour shift after making me clean the grease trap. I just smiled and walked out. However, because I was closing manager, I still had a key to the restaurant that I had received before they bought the place, so I guess he didn't realize I had it. So later that evening, I came back to the store, parked in the back alley, unlocked the back door and walked in. I made myself two big fat burritos, cleaned up, and left. I would always wear my old uniform so if the cops showed up I could say I worked there. I did this at least 4 times a week for the next 3 years until they went out of business. Saved me at least $200 a month on groceries, and because I could switch it up with salads or nachos, and sometimes I'd bring soy sauce and make a stir fry so it didn't get boring. I know what I did is stealing and I don't give a shit.

It's called in a jack of all trades you go where the money is one day you're shoveling next day or putting a roof in. The more you know the more money you can make just don't tell the state LOL

I've always wanted a big family, but children are so expensive. I have one son and I love him to death. But I knew that I couldn't have another child on my own without help. So he's my one and only.

Love the have 6 months of expenses saved up posts. Like how? I save as much as I can, never go out to do stuff so not spending a ton of money other than bills and whenever I get some savings, bam something unexpected that costs almost everything I have. Like even if by some miracle I was able to save 6 months worth I have no doubt something major would happen the day I quit.

I hate how people think that everybody who can retire, save, own a home, etc, have rich parents. It makes people who’ve worked hard to do all of that feel frustrated because their hard work is just ignored. I’m retiring early and come from a middle class family. I did it by myself and worked bloody hard for it.

So many of the people on here "rely on their spouse" which is completely unfair.

The fact that the antiwork sub made history with its exponential growth speaks volumes. A capitalist democracy historically lasts no more than 250 years. USA turns 241 this year. Big shift coming soon.

I was letted go during the early days of the pandemic. So glad I was because I hated working at this seafood restaurant I used to work at because of it being always understaffed and such… . Not to mention having workers that’re all students… .

So again; I’m glad I’m not working anymore and I’m so much more happy this way. :D
