For those of you wondering about Italy, here we have some pretty strict rules about what type of songs can be imported and directly used without any issues of copyright, SpongeBob here was dubbed by a studio that was not very profitable, they did a great job nevertheless but they were still nowhere near close to be called a big studio, and they were know to cut and remove anything that was thought “problematic” this included some scenes in the earlier seasons, probably to avoid issues with parents complaining, and also a lot of the music, which would have simply been to expensive for the studio to afford.

I’m surprised the worm episode wasn’t banned because of the butterfly. That scene where it had close ups of a real butterfly before “destroying” the city gave me nightmares as a kid 😂

I remember when I was 5 I saw the Nosferatu scene. I was not afraid of Nosferatu himself but of the possibility of him randomly appearing in Spongebob. I was anxious of him or other characters appearing in shows or movies they don't belong and it really freaked me out as if something paranormal just happened. But there was a scene that genuinly terrified me as a kid: Ghost Host's infamous flying dutchman transformation...

Didn’t know about any of these, but I *do* remember that here in the U.S., a scene in the episode “Just One Bite” was deleted where Squidward gets set on fire a couple of times (apparently due to the events of 9/11). It was weird because I saw the original version on TV, then they suddenly stopped showing it, and I started wondering if it was just a fever dream or something

I find it funny that the people who censored that episode were afraid that kids will try to cut onions with their eyes closed on purpose when the parents could just simply teach their kids how to properly cut onions.

In Iran, this cartoon is very popular among children. As an Iranian, I love it. An interesting censorship of this animation in Iran
In the graveyard shift episode
In the last scene, they realize that the sounds are produced by Dracula, and then we see the image of a smiling Dracula
When this episode was aired on Iran's children's channel, this scene was completely removed, perhaps because it might be scary for children
(Of course, this is years ago, now you can see the Persian dubbed version of this cartoon on the Internet or on CD)
