CF Monterrey (MEX) vs Inter Miami CF (USA)
Quarterfinals - Second Leg | Estadio BBVA

CF Monterrey defeated Inter Miami CF, 3-1, in the second leg of their 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals series on Wednesday night at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The Liga MX side, and five-time CCC winners, won the first leg 2-1 to advance 5-2 on aggregate.

German Berterame had a long-distance hit in the 15' but Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender punched the ball out of bounds to avert any danger.

Lionel Messi had his first attempt of the match in the 25' with a left-foot swing in the box but the attempt was just high of the bar.

Brandon Vazquez pounced on an erroneous clearance from Callender in the 31' to place the hosts up and extend Monterrey's lead on aggregate.

Callender had a timely save in the 36' to deny Maximiliano Meza at the right post, connecting on a cross by left back Gerardo Arteaga.

Meza had a look from distance in the 45'+4 but could not get it on frame to extend the lead prior to halftime.

Sergio Canales was on target from a free kick in the 48' but Callender came up with the save.

Berterame struck a rocket from the edge of the penalty arc in the 58' to extend the lead for the Liga MX contingent.

Jesus Gallardo headed in the third for Monterrey in the 64' on a lobbed pass from Berterame.

Inter Miami were down to ten men in the 78' as Jordi Alba was shown a second yellow card.

Diego Gomez scored for the visitors in the 85' with a header off a free kick assist from Messi.

Monterrey advances to the semifinals for the first time since the 2021 edition when it finished as champion. Rayados will face reigning MLS champions Columbus Crew SC in the next round.
