I went on a Copper penny hunt for about 6 months around 2012 time frame. I would get $25 boxes of rolled pennies and sorting out the "82" Copper pennies (Copper and Zinc were both stamped that year) and older. I wasn't the only one then, my bank chain started charging US Copper stackers $5 per each rolled box. I stopped then after accumulating several hundred pounds of pennies.
Found plenty of Wheats then also as a bonus👍🏼
I still check my pennies age to keep the Copper ones but my eyes are not what they were😊

Back in the day farmers would put copper rods down into the ground near the crops ans the fruit and veggies would grow to be huge! Govt stopped that

I've been saving all my copper pennies 82 and back since the 70s. I even have a few cans full of the years of steel pennies so they're not all copper and zinc there's a few war years that are steel.
