As a redhead... I don't get what people are upset with. I never identified with Ariel, she had a fishtail 💁‍♀️

Nothing racist. Black people just need to write their own stories. That's all.

I didn't realize HOW much I missed Trevor until I saw this (again). His dialogue and pointing out reality honestly and with humor is soooo missed. I looked forward to watching him and hearing him address the current issues.

I hope he's enjoying his travels and adventures.

You’re taking historically white characters Snow White, Annie, Cleopatra, Ariel, etc. and making them another race. It doesn’t matter if they’re fictional or real. And If it doesn’t matter or shouldn’t matter, which is always the argument, then don’t change the race of the character. It mattered enough to make the change. And again, if the tables were turned, the internet would be up in flames. It just blows my mind how people today are so casually prejudiced against white people. Just make an entirely different movie with new characters. Is it that hard to be original? It’s virtue signaling and lazy.

The same people upset about black Ariel didn’t think twice about Scarlett Johansson playing MOTOKO KUSANAGI in Ghost in the Shell or the hate crime that was Aang, Katara, and Sokka in The Last Airbender.

Wow, this guy is great- the Daily Show should make him the permanent host!

I hope the writers guild can get something worked out. I hope Dulce gets the rest of her week. Also, to Trevor's point I don't recall Queen Latifah getting racial backlash when she portrayed Ursula in the live stage production. They're fine when a black woman is the villain, but outraged when she's royalty.

It’s a freaking mermaid. It’s a fictional character. I’m just appalled that they didn’t cast an actual mermaid!

What makes me sad is that a bunch of Americans basically told the world to hate another American because her skin wasn't the " right"color and the world has done that. Halle Bailey doesn't deserve this hate.

I just don't understand why anyone would lose their minds over a cartoon. I recently saw a video where little black girls were shown clips from this trailer and they were thrilled. They were excited to see someone who looks like them. Please, lets stop this craziness.

There sure was a black mermaid in the cartoon tv show version who did sign language. I am for one and going to support this wholeheartedly.

Trevor put into words what has always bothered me about this story. "...about a young woman changing her core identity to please a man."

Trevor is the best to dismantal arguments and enlighten us with humor. I just love him and glad he felt the need to speak up and say something on a important topic.
