America is definitely divided, probably more than it ever has been in the past 50 years. To handle such a division we need a leader that won't necessarily poke at a certain side, but work on finding ways to at least promote cohesiveness, because in the end the politicians don't lose as much as the people they represent. But the system is flawed anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
