Battlezone sold me on the Playstation VR - New gameplay and first impressions

Last week Ian finally got the chance to try out the Playstation VR headset via a hands on with Rebellion's virtual reality reboot of Battlezone. The Battlezone gameplay in this video is taken from the GDC Battlezone demo and according to Ian, it's a really great introduction to the way VR will look and feel on a home console. i am very happy about this, even though I'm purchasing the HTC vive
having a mainstream accessible vr product that is an accurate representation of what vr is capable of will go a hell of a long way to mainstream acceptance and thus more development and support

I just got to try this game out on Playstation VR. I loved it! Mainly because it puts you in a tron-like world, and the sense of scale really makes judging distance with the cannon and watching the shot travel is awesome!

As someone who played the original Battlezone in my local arcade as a child and found it totally futuristic, I can safely say that I never imagined that one day I'd be playing a VR version of it, while sitting on my sofa at home as an adult.

Just replayed this last night and it's still an amazing game only put it on for a try and ended up playing for 2.5 hours.

I just played this demo at a kiosk today. It's pretty awesome, and he's not kidding about the feeling of scale when you're wearing the headset. Everything feels huge.

Yes. This was exactly my conclusion. It really looks like a game I can play for hours and enjoy. Imagine if it had PVE or even full blown multiplayer!

When you consider you can buy the console + the VR setup for around the same as the VR peripherals alone on PC, it seems like a good option. I don't currently own a PS4, but the VR headset has swayed me into buying the console some time soon.

my main worry with all the vr devices is depth. as far as we know the hardware is up to scratch so the ball is in the devs court they have to come up with ideas that aren't just mini games or something your sick of after an hour

Amazing fucking game. Has to be experienced on VR.. it's amazing... this game on PSVR takes u to a other world.

Surprised no one's pointing out that this isn't at all based on the Atari 2600 Battlezone, but Atari's arcade game Battlezone, which was rather different (and much better). I'll be that person then.

In the cockpit was the text actually readable? With the DK2 running at the same resolution reading text can be difficult unless you're doing it head-on and it's fairly large.
