Seems China has a two-pronged approach: one for international trade, another domestic matters;
and seems China wants to ensure the two do not intermingle.

Great explanation. I really appreciate your contribution to this topic. Especially at a time when there is so much conflicting information out there.

Why would China want to have a reserve currency? Wouldn't this appraciate the yen enormously and make them less competitive for exports?

Nice talk Daniel, totally agree, it’s time for China to implement international rules and policies improving his transparency levels. Productivity and domestic demand bubble is a huge problem, I’m not a economist, it’s the feedback from our chinese friends, actually yuan isn’t a threat to dollar in those terms. Cheers.

They should rename "US dollar" to "US debt".

Gracias

Dont you think that one of the main reasons why the Yuan hasn’t expand enough is because China keeps using the dollars they receive to buy oil and USA debt? maybe if they don’t need the dollars as much as they need now, it may help they to expand the Yuan

Another form of "US debt" is Treasury Bills....you need to account for that too in analyzing who holds "US debt."

Thank you for this video.
Could you do something about the last one's audios? And perhaps re publish them with the word "reloaded" or "remastered" in the title?

Does the Bank of International Settlements speak for the entire globe? Are all international transactions processed through this bank? What exactly do their graphs cover?... and can that data be trusted?
SPECIFICALLY: Are you sure that "the use of the yuan has not increased significantly and is almost 4% of all transactions"?

I agree with you, Daniel. I see the dollar strengthening in the coming months, due to the uncertainty in the world. The Japanese don't want a strong yen, Eurozone is a mess, so is Britain. Only one left is the Swiss Franc, and the SNB has consistantly said it will fight appreciation.
Thanks for your posts, I get a lot out of them.

Good analysis however I think you're making one fatal flaw and that's that you believe the gold numbers China puts out. They are known to not even report them for months or even years, I believe. China imports gold and doesnt export any of it's own production so there are estimates that they may be sitting on as much as 20k tons of gold.

People bored and desperate for a "change up" from American hegemony, TOO BAD. That takes hard work and the chinese don't work that hard.

If you disagree with this assessment, look at the situation with Chinese dams, you'd THINK, given all the footage of destruction of farmland along with urban settlements that have been leaking out of china, that these people would be known as having SOME OF THE BEST dams in the world. Yet they have had to fully release flood gates at Three Gorges Dam along with diverting flood waters into the country side in the basin of the Yangzte River TO SAVE THE DAM FROM COLLAPSE. This isn't an insignificant anecdote, China already needs to import to sustain food supply, their farmland experiences these types of strains REGULARLY.

Forget about having the next "World reserve currency", if you cannot guarantee food security for your people BY YOUR OWN HAND, then forget about having some crypto gold backed, petroyuan that will dethrone the world reserve currency. They are too beholden to the world beyond for the foreseeable future.
