The Yamaha CP-70 and I go way back to my first studio recording session. Fast forward about 40 years and @NativeInstruments has partnered once again with Alicia Keys and @GalaxyInstruments to bring us Alicia's Electric Keys. Using her beloved CP-70 We have an instrument that pays tribute to this classic while taking it much further in terms of what we can now do with it inside the KONTAKT 7 engine.

*Special thanks to Native Instruments for providing a copy of Alicia's Electric Keys for this Joyful Journey!

VINTAGE SIMEON!
This video reminds me of the very first time being in the studio around 1981.The piano they were using at the time was, you guessed it a Yamaha CP-70. You can listen to the entire project here.

Once again your explorations of these instruments are inspiring. I wanna use this to write some lo-fi beats now

I need another CP library like I need a hole in my head( Waves, Steinberg The Grand, Arturia, Sampletank, Keyscape) but I will still enjoy this when Komplete 15 comes out in month or two.

I've recently become interested in the sound of Yamaha's CP70/80 electric grand, so this video was very timely. I'll probably start with the CP70 included in sampletank4max, but Alicia's CP70 is also pretty good with a neat sound. It sounds beautiful, similar to the UVI one. I'm also interested in the CP included in Steinberg The Grand3, created by the Yamaha content team (I'd be happy if there was a review video of Simeon someday). A few days ago I found a free livery that can be used with KONTAKT called "David's CP70" on pianobooks, which has some noise issues, but the sound is thick and strong, the tuning is exquisitely out of tune, and I like the honky-tonk CP70.

I recently bought Arturia CP-70 which is based on the same piano. I like that one. I probably would like this one as well. Arturia don't use Kontakt which is a difference. It makes it a bit quicker to find and load.

Needs chorus and a very long reverb before I like it.
