2022 PROTON X50 Review – Still The Segment-Breaker? | #Review

The PROTON X50 arrived with a splash, putting the company on the map as one headed into the future with bold confidence backed with technical & technological capability never before seen from PROTON.

But with a few years under its belt and a ton of new rivals since, we revisit the PROTON X50 to ask if it's still the big kahuna it was when it first arrived, or if the flame has since fizzled and died.

Aiman, excellent summary👍 Your "refresh review" was highly relevant after 2 years and you've pin-pointed all the shortcomings perfectly, after sales support & service quality. p/s I like your reminder "don't attempt to change the flat on the highway"🙏🏼

Totally agree with the review, downside is only the high fuel consumption, otherwise money for value buy.

I strongly agree with this video on the FC. For me, it's the only major downside of the X50. To achieve what Proton claims (16.4km/L), you need to drive it around 50-60km/h, letting the car cruise at corners and stop less at traffic lights. I've done it before and it sucked. Nonetheless, I'm still happy with the car and so far still not having any issues with mine nor with the after sales service (thank God). I genuinely hope future would-be owners would be as lucky as well.

Great motoring review 🎉 loved the honesty and also facts sharing along with consideration that a normal buyer may not have thought of. Thank you and keep up the great work

it's true the 2008 is really good on FC. about 7.7-8L/100km in city traffic, about 7.5 in mixed city and highway drive, and on long range highway easily get 5.5-5.9. if i fill up full tank i expect 500-600km before i need to refuel

This is THE review that i have been looking for the X50...brutally honest, no icing and very comprehensive 😃.

I really wanted to know more about the X50 after sales service quality.
As you beautifully and so accurately put it ....i didnt want to buy a good product wrapped in parts that were just waiting to breakdown THE VERY moment their warranty runs out.

As a previous owner of 2 proton vehicles, i had my petrol tank nozzle literally slide down on me while pumping petrol, ...outer handles break one after the other...power window jam up on me ...these are just to name a few of the items that fail on me.🤣🤣

Top it off with a laid back attitude and totally sub par after sales service quality....made this brand an utter nightmare for me.

On the other hand, ...the Peroduas that we had were an utter delight ( though with slightly less vehicle driving satisfaction when compared to the proton)...

Yeah...i am NOT buying this one.
I cannot live through the nightmares again🤣
Thank you soo much Aiman for setting my mind straight....as i was really going to give this one a final try🤣🤣

that wind buffeting from the wing mirrors apparently stems from the less than perfect LHD to RHD conversion where the driver side mirror doesn't open up as much..that's why the wind whistling thingy doesn't happen on the passenger side...it looks like an engineering challenge, also, current protons make sense as 2nd cars with their on going parts shortages

I almost gagged on my coffee when you mentioned the X70 being a 600 year old car🤣
Very refreshing review and I must say I enjoyed it, hence the thumbs up for you, great job.
Now, coming back to something more serious, I am really considering hard on selecting either one of the X series...and like what you mentioned, the after sales service has to be brought into consideration as well, and that's been on my mind for quite some time, spoken to quite a few as well and many cautioned me about it too....
How la? Aiyoh...I may have to consider other models if that's the case

I think at highway- the petrol consumption is better compared at town. Eventhough im using sport mode. Same to my previous civic

How it earned the EEV batch with that kind of fuel consumption? 😅
