Poland. 1831. Crushed after the November Uprising - a rebellion against the Russian Empire - failed. Chopin - who was currently resettleing to Paris - would never return to his homeland again. This piece happened to appear around this same time period (which we have nicknamed the "Revolutionary Etude"), but like the rest of his pieces did not bear a name outside of Etude Op. 10 No. 12. It did not need a name to express the emotion that Chopin - and Poland - was feeling at the time. Enjoy ♥

I can easily play this. Why is everyone saying it’s so hard to play? I know my WiFi connection is not the best, but the video played just fine.

I was 10 years old. I decided to open up my music book that came with my piano and I found this song. I entered the corresponding song number and I listened to it thinking "one day I'm going to play this". I'm 18 and after months of practice I have successfully played 4 measures. Progress.

Chopin is such a gift in this world. This piece makes me feel how sad Chopin felt. Chopin is now my favourite composer

My late father was a trained classical pianist. In addition to working full-time for the government, his full-time side hustle was teaching piano at his wonderful classical music school for over 22 years. Chopin's Revolutionary Etude was one of his signature pieces. I love the energy of this piece. I loved watching my dad's finger dexterity and his passion emote from the beautiful fast-paced tempo. Mr. Park does great justice to the piece. Thinking about my dad, and listening to this performance is both humbling and comforting. Thank you for posting.

Amazing piece. The fact that Chopin wrote this about a revolution that happened in his home country, that the side he supported lost, and he was never able to return, you can feel the frustration in every note. Incredible. Bravissimo to the pianist. Amazing.
