I think by reducing Yorick W and R cd a little will not make him sit under tower after maiden dies in early game.

Two things, first, nice video, and second, it's true that old champs with old mechanics, do not fit on actual league, it's true you can still win, but for making them useful, or at least viable, it's add more things on it. for example, with Yorick, make that anything that it's in the Yorick's w, can't use movility spells, or make his minions apply the grasp or other effects, or make the minions of Yorick get like a buff if you spawn 4 ghouls at once(like more damage, or more healt) or even make like the maiden or the minions make more damage too jungle (may not be that viable, but it could work)

I have never thought WR to be a good place to balance champion. I would much rather riot balanced champions of in-game game play, and counterplay.

Does a champion have counterplay? Yes or no?

Does that champion have skillshot, that if missed or used incorrectly, can then be punishable?
Yes or no?

Does that champion have to rely on a 700 gold back to be strong? Or a 3k gold back to be strong?
Yes or no?

Does a late game champion, have a weak early game.
Yes or no?

Should a champion be allowed to have more than 300+ true damage on a non-ultimate ability.
Yes or no?

And so on and so forth.

i think he’s pretty balanced
it’s just that people at my elo (roughly gold) see him so rarely that they usually don’t know how to deal with his pressure

I really like this style of content it's very entertaining! I feel for yorick there should be something added to maybe his w so he can perform better in high elo like a ground cc effect if someone that you cage dashes out but make it so his wall has less HP so it isn't dumb to play against. (I say a ground effect since I don't think that many high elo players play stuff like tahm kench that kinda run at you, but rather stuff with outplay potential like an irelia or yas etc.)

Gold 2 here, Yorick works pretty well... I always build this strange path : divine sunderer - serylda - sterak + situationals, the early spyke from serylda is so good for helping teams

Riot talked about making splitpushing somehow more viable. If that happens, yorick would be in a healthier state?

A new passive like : if someone is in the yorick’s cage the ghouls will be summoned with the agro on the trapped champ.
Yorick needs a second way to engage.
If you Miss E you can only sit and watch enemy farming in front of you.

yorick is balanced because all he do is take towers like no other imo sure there is fiora jax camille etc
but yorick sucks in a 5v5 scenario he sucks at TF and skirmishes ... and Yorick cant really fight without his maiden against most champs he can though against almost anybody with maiden thats why i think he is balanced

Exactly how I feel about Yorick lol. But if I didn't play him it'd be hard to say "get em boys" every time I land E and my ghouls kamikaze themselves undertower

Very good video. I do think that Yorick is a hard character to balance, based on my knowledge of games and the added knowledge you provided. There will be neglected champions, but I do think Riot did a goo job of making the game playable for any champion, even if they don't win a lot based on the average of all players with said champion. I am a firm believer that even unbalanced characters like Yorick that don't do amazing at higher ELO are still viable choices, provided you are able to combine macro and understand how to beat your opponents with prediction and outplays. I think this is true of all characters, provided you become skilled with them to the point you can outwit and outplay everyone else. Please post more videos like this, as I would be extremely interested in seeing more of your thoughts about the game. I think discussion regarding it is often overlooked in favor of simply ranting, or ignorance regarding the deeper levels of such a wonderful game.

Imo the problem with Yorick is that with Maiden he is pretty f#cking good, but without her he's pretty much useless, unless you set up with your E and ghouls well which is hard to do sometimes.

i've only been playing for like, 2 ish years (semi consistently), and i'm a yorick main. nowadays, i only really play league with my friends, but when i do, it's 80% yorick. i do agree that he doesn't get attention, and i'm selfishly saying that that's a good thing cuz it's hard to know what to do against him if you've never faced him before or have only faced bad yoricks. plus he rarely gets banned so i can go into a game knowing my main won't be picked.

Passive
i've always brainstormed a little yorick rework that i think would be pretty good. his passive is (as said in the video) kind of a let down. i would make it so that he gains something from not awakening them with his q or e. a small speed boost or (a very weak) health regen while there are four graves up would help. that way, having ghouls without your e up is still okay cuz you can stick them onto champions after raising them, and it also gives yorick SOME stats while laning passively against mean, aggressive champions like poopy, stinky irellia.

his q i think is pretty good, but it would be nice if his q marked targets like his e does, since his kit is based around his q and passive. but the q's mark wouldn't be able to raise ghouls, only mark them for existing ghouls to leap to the enemy champion. because of the cooldown on his e being so long, it's hard to fight champions even when you have ghouls up cuz you need the e to refocus them onto the enemy champion.

his w is interesting because i think it's such an underrated part of his kit compared to other abilities in the game. the size and shape isn't as awkward as other walls in the game. it does what it's supposed to do which is immobilize most enemies and provide you (and friends) a path to escape in the jungles. his w is the perfect size for those nooks and turns, and when you place it between the wall and the first tower, the minions actually try to go around your wall through the bushes and INTO the jungle so it interrupts their pathing and i would occasionally see them go fully into the jungle sometimes which is hilarious to watch. one thing i'd change is if an enemy champion is hit by it when it's rising up, meaning they'd be knocked up (since it is technically a knock up) it should always bump them inside instead of out, cuz if they're more on the outside of it but are still knocked up, it pushes them out.

E
after the most current change to his e, with it raising ghouls, it's actually decent, but its shape makes it so awkward ot use. this would probably be the most op change i'd make, but i'd make it work similar to kog'maw e where it's a straight line and starts from where yorick is standing, unlike illaoi's where the whole area is affected all at once, just so it would still be like yorick throwing a globule of mist.

three words: easier maiden control. instead of unleashing maiden, you should be able to control it like daisy and tibers where you can click a target (either a location or target near yorick) and maiden will go to that spot. can't tell you how many times i've called the maiden an idiot outloud because it stays under tower for too long. one more thing, considering it's "the culmination of thousands of undead souls, " IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE THROUGH UNITS. IT'S A FLYING GHOST FOR GOD'S SAKE! it gets stuck so many times and dies cuz of it, it's infuriating. i'd even make it walk through walls XD but nah, that's a little much. and in place of the recast to unleash her, you can just hold ult to unleash her, that way you still have that unique function of releasing maiden onto a lane.
