Adventure in forgotten Thailand

Показать описание
We’re exploring northern Thailand in April, smack in the middle of burning season. The air is thick with smoke, the heat is relentless, and between building a wooden guesthouse and working in mountain rice fields, things are intense. But finally—rain. Sweet, cleansing rain. It’s like the world pauses to take a deep breath. Perfect time to hit the road.
I visited a Canadian near the Myanmar border who spent 20 years as a monk. Now, he runs a homestay where people come to meditate, hike, do yoga, or cross the Salawin River to donate to communities in Myanmar. It’s a peaceful oasis, surrounded by lush plants and vibrant energy. I ate fresh vegetarian food, learned about his garden, meditated, and set off on a two-night hike through the mountains.
The journey was pure adventure—walking along Thailand’s last wild river, stopping by waterfalls, greeting buffalo, sleeping at monasteries, and even improvising a hat when I forgot mine. A dog decided to join us for the whole trek, which made everything feel a little magical. The full moon ceremony was the cherry on top: Karen vegan food, refreshing rain, and good vibes all around.
This trip wasn’t just about relaxing the body—it was about resetting the mind. The foggy morning walk back felt surreal, and the shaded drive home was the perfect end. It’s not every day you get to experience something like this, and the video captures it all.
