Best salad ever. In Montenegro I can’t imagine any holiday without this salad. We do add diced ham and hard boiled egg inside also

Yum! I love dill! Interesting salad, another on my wish list for time to make. I was salivating before I even opened the video. Mmmm, can't wait.

I am going to try this version. I grew up eating a different version made by my Russian grandmother. She used potatoes, ham, cucumber, green apple, peas, and of course, mayo. I know this combination sounds awful, but everyone that has ever tried it, loved it. The cucumber and apple add crunch and lighten the texture.

Thanks George. I'm looking forward to trying this salad. I've often thought that Dill was an underappreciated fresh herb. I've noticed its use in other eastern and central European cuisine such as sausages, Piroshki (baked meat buns) and Zupa Koperkowa (Polish "potato and dill soup" - one of my favourites).

George that was mouthwatering! I had one of my Slovakian roomates, during Masters, doing this exact variation but also with canned spam pork! I would also love to see your version of coleslaw! 😇

We have this salad here in Italy, too. People here prefer more mayo than in the US (where I'm from), I like a lot less so I always make my own and serve it with a bowl of freshly made mayo (Which, of course, I use in the salad as I make it). Always delicious and satisfying and definitely best when served the next day cold from the refrigerator.

Thanks for the food inspiration. I will make a low carb version with swede. Maybe I will add some cauliflower rice.

Thank you, Chef. This looks great. I am a little nervous about all that dill. But I'll try it. Definitely have guests. Guests are great fun to watch. Was that a Hestan titanium pan you were boiling the potatoes in? Warm regards from British Columbia.

This is a wonderful salad. Just interested in why no tomatoes are used?

Looks good, Chef. As the peas weren't cooked, were they not a bit al dente? I would be tempted to simmer them in salted water for a few minutes first.

Are those dill pickles or sweet pickles?

Russian salad used to be very popular here in Greece up until the 90s.
I make a homemade version but without the mayo. The pickles are my favourite ingredient.
I guess it's not a Russian salad without the mayo 😆

From Estearn Europe here. I didn t ever see scallion or onion in it. If you use commercial mayo people won t eat it and they can tell.

Commercial mayo is a big problem, estrogenic, all soy.

Nooo you need ham or even a poached chicken breast also the eggs are optional
