Prior to becoming Orthodox, my friend's cat was mostly indifferent to me. I love animals and really wanted the cat to like me but she just kept to herself. After I was baptized into The Church, this cat comes out to greet me when I go to my friend's home. My friend has also become Orthodox and she has noticed her cat's preference for other Orthodox people who come to her home.

How neat! I feel like my children would love to hear this. Anything with an animal theme :)

Now that I know that Lion and I share the same name I now need to get myself an icon of St Gerasimos and Jordan.

In The Silver Chair Aslan the lion has another character drive a thorn into his paw purposefully, and the blood that is shed brings a dead man back to life. I'm sure C.S. Lewis meant this as a reference back to this story.

Was lucky enough to visit his monestary a year ago on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. St. Gerasimos pray for us 🙏☦

this was so good, today I had the unlikely encounter with a stray kitten who had accidentally gotten a tiny plastic bag stuck on its head, thankfully it calmed down for just long enough for me to take the bag off its head, it wasn’t a thorn in a lions foot, but I feel a distant connection between the two events, we too get to participate in the very same world as the saints of old, thank you for sharing, I had never before heard of this one, I think i’d very much like to visit that monastery some day

Lovely story, thank you for sharing it! 🙏 It’s worth to contemplate how our style of living and diet affects animals. What we can change and what to let go to hurt them less and prevent unnecessary suffering ❤

What a delightful story! I would definitely be keen on more content about our non-human creature friends and I'm especially fond of donkeys, so thank you.

Too beautiful ❣️ imagining what life must have been like between Adam and Eve and the animals in the Garden before the slithering 🐍 came to ruin it all😭😭😭

Deliver us o LORD from the evil one🙏💙🙏✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you. Where a righteous man Regards the life of his beast. It's not only a statement, I understand it's a concept and reflection of the spirit.
