I've just bought a pair of Elysian 4 to replace my Vivid Giya 2. Now paring with Hegel H30 x 2 Monoblock. Very impressive sounds, very happy with this speaker. Applause to Mr Peter Comeau.

Nice honest video as always, you covered this speaker very well. I have the Elysian 4's and use a Felixs Audio Arioso 300B, 8 watt amplifier and have no trouble driving the Elysian 4's with a low powered SET amplifier. I have not noticed them being forward or modern sounding, maybe that's because of the 300B SET, either way, they are a great speaker and I agree with your comments about the mids and upper frequencies, however on the 4's the base is very tight and deep too. I think the 3's are very similar when I heard them in a much more room friendly package and agree they are a very good buy for the money. Quality is second to none, don't care where it is made as long as it is made well, those complaining about foreign products, need to look at quality and costs in their own country. Might have been a good idea to show the other colour options, some one said these were ugly, I hate to think what they think of as beautiful then, to my eyes these are wonder full, mine are the Walnut finish which is just glorious. Please keep producing your great reviews.

Cannot wait for the Ideon Eos review, I’ve been so intrigued by this brand and this model specifically.

I have the Elysian 4 paired with Hegel H390. I picked them after demo-in the Elysian 2 and similarly-priced and more expensive speakers. The Elysian were effortless, had big bass and created that huge "wall of sound" image. Some other speakers I demoed were: Quadral Montan 9, B&W 702 S2, Canton Reference 5K (those had a similar sound), Focal Sopra (the bass was disappointing), Elac Vela BS 403 (small sound), Elac Adante AS-61 (I liked those, big sound but the bass had issues at loud volume).

I own the Elysian 4 Terry. Absolutely love them.

That's the perfect size for many homes. I find these beautiful, maybe a little bit on the shiny side of neutral, and as in many cases questionable W.A.F. (Gf.A.F.). Thank you once again for the review! More exciting new ranges are coming in with IAG, like that successor of Quad's S-Series of speakers (if I got that right).

Great review. When will you review the Wharfedale AURA 2?

I thoroughly enjoyed your review, very revealing insight. I wonder if you would consider the Elysian 2 to review. a stand mount with deeper cabinets. I would like to add that yourself, John Darko and Steve Guttenberg seem to me to be a trinity of must see reviewers for reliable balanced unbiased opinions.

After decades of audio, the idea of an "end game" audio anything is a cruel joke.

Given the price of these speakers, you'd hope the were above the other speakers you mentioned. That said, I have heard the Elysian's and they really hold their own and are better, in my opinion, than a lot of speakers at higher price points. They still have that Wharfedale sound that I enjoy, a bit of warnth there, but they also have that lively top end that the AMT Tweeter brings, just without the siibilance issues that some AMT implementations show.
I think, similar to the EVO's, placement is really key with these. They can disappear into the room with the right placement.

Hi Terry,
Great review as ever.
I'm looking at the Mission 770 or Wharfedale Elysian 2 / Aura 2 as possible options for endgame speakers for my Leema Tucana 2/Hydra kit.
Would it be at all possible for you to focus on them all in the same review?
I realise these speakers are all in different price points - but feel there would be a good few potential hifi buyers out here thinking along the same lines as myself - it would be enormously helpful to see a one-stop video highlighting their respective pros & cons.
Thanks 👍

I have EVO 4.2's and love them. Talk about punching above a price point, the EVO's do that in spades. I adore the magic combination of the AMT tweeter and the soft-dome mid on the EVO, I think it is thier defining characteristic.
How would you compare the sound of the EVO vs the Elysian?

I was excited to hear your thoughts after reviewing these Terry. I wasn't expecting you to say that they have that slight edge to them. Maybe it is like you say because they are in a smaller enclosure. Thomas and Stereo reviewed the Elysian 4's and I got the impression from him that they were too relaxed for him - but he's particularly fond of Focal which kind of puts things in perspective. My own EVO 4.3's took forever to burn in, so maybe with a little longer run-in time the Elysian 3's might lose their "edginess"? Thanks as always for an excellent review!

Absolutely stunning finish! Are there any more exquisite speakers than these (and anything from Sonus Faber) ?
