Arpara have just announced on the KS page that the 5K headset brightness has just been improved by 40% due to a firmware upgrade! That is massive news, as brightness of the Arpara was one of the main issues with the headset video quality, so hopefully this will be a major improvement!

They have said that they will be rolling out the firmware upgrade to their Youtube reviewers very soon, so I hope you will get (and review on) this big improvement...

I backed the tethered arpara, I'm coming from a quest 2 so just the diopter upgrade is huge for me. Also the weight. If the display is any better, then that's just a bonus for me lol. Can't wait until Feb/March

I am definitely gonna keep my arpara tethered bundle pledge, even tho I am a bit bummed out about the brightness.
I plan to use it as a secondary HMD to the Quest 2 anyway. For stuff I need native/wired VR, seated Gamepad VR and for dark stuff of course.

Can't wait to get my AIO.
The diopter adjustment only works for near and farsightedness.
I have astigmatism and will still need to use corrective lenses.
Very difficult to get Steam tracking and controllers here in Aus, very expensive or I would have gotten the PCVR headset.

Looks more like contrast needs increasing and/or brightness decreasing? I pulled the plug and ordered yesterday because to me OLED trumps everything at any price, and dioptre adjustment is brilliant! New facial interface and DP1.4 cable included (MRTV has the cable and tracker in their latest review which clinched it).

Can you please tell us when the headset is connected to the smartphone, can you use the phone as a trackpad or better as a air mouse controller to browse menus and apps.

Thanks for the short review Steve. Looking great still!!! Just a comment - since you are only using the 1.2 cable, you are running this in 4k and not 5k. I wonder how much better the edge to edge clarity would be if you were in the full 5k 70hz. Look forward to your comprehensive review! Have a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!
