Our Couchsurfing Host Wasn't Home in Drochia, Moldova | Experience at European village

Get ready for an adventure to the north of Moldova in Drochia, near Soroca, where we spending a few nights couchsurfing in a small village. Our host called us from Romania to guide us through finding his house and getting inside. This was a mission in itself! The next day we met "Big Mama", the popular local shop owner. Did she welcome us or shun us? They don't get many foreigners in this part of Moldova so English isn't widely spoken. During the trip out of the village we were in luck when we found a local who gave us a ride to the bus stop. This is true rugged traveling off the beaten path in a bare bones basic village in the frigid cold of winter. They don't even have running water and the bathrooms are outside of the house! It was a true authentic experience of a simpler kind of life.
