Thrawn and co are stuck in a section of space like the Deep Core with no stable Hyperspace routes so is only able to communicate with the likes of Gideon by long range communications meanwhile Ezra's jumping between systems stopping their escape by Purrgil like a space version of Jonah and the Whale

I honestly need Ezra to be treated as a mass murderer in his next appearance. He attacked the largest fleet in the Empire and dragged *breached* ships through hyperspace. Imagine the number of deaths caused.

I would love for this to mean the return of Ezra. It would be such a shame if Rebels didn't get their live action screen debut. I mean we got a Hera name drop in Rogue One, obviously older Ashoka and Thrawn name drop, Bo-Katan and now the perguls.

Rebels ended with a mystery, and they’ve been assembling the puzzle pieces for the post-Palpatine era of the empire for a while now. All the talk about cloning in The Bad Batch, as well as the mention of Thrawn and now the appearance of the purrgil.

What’s the bet that Thrawn and Ezra were taken into the Unknown Regions and Thrawn has had a hand in starting up the First Order? And the fate of Ezra? Completely up in the air is my guess.

I think Thrawn would be an awesome big bad to weave through Ahsoka, Boba Fett, and Mandalorian.

Have him leading the effort to clone and build a strandcast for the Emperor.

Tie it into the sequels and animated shows.

Well, what do we know?

Rebels ended around 0 BBY. The Mandolorian takes place beginning around 9 ABY. Ahsoka is still searching after 9 ABY (and with no Sabine in sight).

So perhaps Ezra is beyond being found, for some reason. Whether he is imprisoned with the Imperial Remnant, or on Csilla, or elsewhere. Perhaps he didn't survive. Perhaps he's been time-shifted somehow, or even marooned somewhere(perhaps in one of the satellite dwarf galaxies).

There didn't seem to be a Thrawn or Ezra presence in the sequels. At some point, Ezra may have been able to communicate with the purrgil. The purrgil would also likely need to stop to feed, occasionally, and any humanoid abductees would also need sustenance.

The Ahsoka series will likely be where the Ezra-mystery is unraveled. Maybe we'll even learn of the origin of the purrgil(natural, or otherwise). Perhaps we'll even see a young Jacen Syndulla training at Luke's brand new school, before his eventual demise at the hands of the Knights of Ren.
