Top 12 Types of Silver To Stack - Silver Stacking Tips

There are so many types of silver to invest in or hold for silver stacking purposes and I compiled a list of 12 main types that stackers might be interested in or know of. Not all of them are created equal and they vary in terms of the advantages and disadvantages that they bring to the table. Whether they are silver coins, silver bullion, silver bars, numismatic items, art, jewelry, or something else, I try to go over them and offer some thoughts. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

What do you think about Silver Shield? Just generic, or do you believe the mini-mintage could add a certain collectible value?

I think the bars should be #3 (if your counting American Eagles and international minted coins separate). I love buying 10oz silver or 1 oz platinum bars (: Good list.

I sold lots of silver in 2011 and 2012...the only thing that was hard to sell was a 100 ounce bar...I eventually sold it at spot for $3750. All the other silver sold super easy.

The silver eagle has way too high of a premium. And the problem is that when you are selling to a coin shop, most will only pay you a little above spot. So if you paid 34 dollars for 1 eagle and then went and sold it you would only get 24-25. Thats a 9 dollar loss. I would rather pay 27 for round and get 24-25.

I stay away from the silver eagles like the plague. Looks at maple leaf monster box: $10K....looks at silver eagles monster box: $11.5K...why? The premium is ridiculous. Doesn't have four 9s like maples, the box takes up more space, they make 40 million a year so that's not special, and for some reason they still say Fine...like when SHTF I don't want to have to explain to some random who doesn't know anything about silver to have to convince them this is real silver. Then I found out through personal experience, sitting on silver eagles for years, it just doesn't go up in premium, it follows spot, meanwhile I was holding a panda and that went up a lot even with a higher premium it was justified, because there's less made and more demand for it. And another thing that piseed me off is the PCGS MS70 for the silver eagles even signed by the designer, it hardly went up from what I paid for it! So unless I get it as a gift I could care less about silver eagles, they cost more, they don't go up in value other than spot, they're boring looking, and there's too many of them. I stick with maples and pandas. Even the PCGS MS70 do well after a few years. These super bullion helps if the silver spot is low and the high premium matures higher than spot so that if you need to pay bills and don't want to sacrifice your stack, you can sell one or a few graded in a tight emergency. If silver spot is high then obviously a generic from the stack can be sold to pay bills. There's a strategy involved to all this, in the beginning I didn't mess with graded and when silver dropped from 40 to 20 the next year, many were underwater, you had to sell a lot of silver to pay bills or if you had a graded for awhile could just sell that and not lose ounces.

Thanks for the information. I agree with most of it but might rearrange a few. BTW...there are 14 dimes in an ounce of silver 🙂 see I have you an extra one 👍

Knowing the end of the dollar is soon I got in with 75-10oz bars in April. I'm taking out a load from my retirement to get a monster box of ASEs, and that's it. I retire at the same time as Trump, January20, 2025, noon🤗
