No workers will ever be harmed by an Oracle

The original Oracle, and possibly the greatest line in SC2 history uttered by Dustin Browder.

the very reason that they were worker friendly was the reason they were changed. entomb was an *absurdly* strong spell. combined with the building lockdown, it made Oracles do 100% guaranteed damage with very minimal input from the Oracle user, which is a really big deal and seen as very unfair.

but to top that off, many players complained that in order to minimize damage, they'd have to bring in combat units to their mineral line to destroy the entombed minerals as fast as possible, _and then_ manually order their workers back to work. it was actually much, much more demanding micromanagement for players to handle than just trying to keep workers alive.

And now the oracle absolutely melts workers

I like that they brought ditched mechanics into Co-op

I think that they would be invaluable in the early game. Basically guaranteed eco damage from lost mining time and could be a strong mid-late game harras tool if used properly.

This is acctually a mutation in coop mode, every x time all your mineral get locked

This and your other videos, Deep diving into the balance notes history and tracking your changes over time is a great approach to balance changes. I feel the current balance only looks at current day pro games

Potentially having something like a 25 energy stasis ward which you would make ontop of the mineral field to entomb it would've probably been better, rather than something similar to revelation which just disables all the fields at once.

Also as all knows by default units prioritize shooting units instead of workers for obvious reasons, but for obvious reasons worker worth a lot in rts. I dont know any RTS where killing worker is really difficult. In aoe2 in somes maps workers can freely go to huge number but any medium too good player play this part perfectly anyway so...

I wonder if they could bring back a nerfed version of this spell as like a fleet beacon upgrade... but then again we already have the stasis ward

I can see a version of this existing if perhaps it required a channel (similar to stasis ward) and if they were destructible.
Thing is that Zerg overseers have a “building lockdown” and it isn’t really used.

Hard no. Would’ve been guaranteed damage with almost no effort on the part of the Oracle player.

What time was this? Would love to watch some old games

This design reads too much as a low risk, high reward. Even if you reduce the reward, it will remain low risk and straight up unavoidable economic damage. Unless you reduce the reward so much that it doesn't feel good to play. It is just bad design unfortunately.

Stasis works similarly to this having a cast time but it is much more versatile.

Would have been completely broken. It is also really not that fun.
