MLB 14: The Show Graphics Comparison (PS4 vs. PS3)

Curious to see how the PS4 version of Sony's stellar baseball sim compares to the PS3 version?

I'm actually really impressed how well they've managed to make these look on last-gen even up until now. I actually just bought MLB 13: The Show on PS3 just for the hell of it, and it looks incredible, all things considered. But yeah, weirdly, some of the players do look better on PS3, others not so much.

You already know there's going to be people saying PS3 looks better. Always have been always will be. Reason? They're upset they can't find or afford a PS4 and feel like they need to make themselves feel better about it by bashing it. Simple psychology

How are some people saying this is the best looking sports game on ps4? Only thing that is different is ps4 ver. is brighter. When I first started I thought I was playing a ps2 ver. I expected a lot better.

Wow...I thought I was the only one that was a little disappointed with MLB "The PORT". It looks the same to me, but I'm going to play it. The only true next gen games this car is NBA2k14 and Infamous, and it's a reach with Infamous. Good video IGN!

The same happened with the first mlb the show for ps3. It was almost an exact port from the ps2 version with only minor upgrades. It took an extra year for the developers to give us an awesome baseball game on the ps3. MLB the show 15 will be jaw dropping. Hang in there people.

And then there are those that slightly over exaggerate and suggest the ps3 version looks better lol. Play it and find out between the two the aliasing on ps3 is still present. The textures on ps4 and the quality of everything stands out and makes the ps4 version look incredibly clean don't think the ps3 version looks better please. Play it yourself or watch the video with better understanding

When games are specifically built first for ps4 only THEN you see the difference. No point moaning about how ports are just minor changes. Its like another factor is that they can't completely change the game for one platform and leave the low end ones behind.

I just got done playing mlb on ps4 ...What a joke!? Clearly they copied and pasted the ps3 version to the ps4. I hit a homerun and when the camera zoomed in the background was so fucking jaggy and lazy!? Wtf!? Madden on the ps4 looks better than this and that is pretty sad!

anyone who's wondering why the difference isn't shocking is because it's a cross-gen title.

Just like assassin's creed IV or Lara croft.... 

If you want amazing graphics, just look at  exclusive platform games. 2 examples come to mind....Infamous second son on PS4 & Ryse: son of rome on xbox one.... Or The Order 1886 for example... You'll never see these types of graphics on ps3 or 360.

On the other hand, cross-gen titles are designed with the ps3 & 360 in mind. Which is why the ps4 or Xbone versions don't look that different. & that's a problem you'll also find on PC.

PC games are usually limited because 99% of games are designed with consoles in mind. So even though PCs are more powerful than consoles, you'll never see a huge difference with the console versions (apart from the resolution and framerate), but if we're just talking about textures, geometry, animation...then the difference will be minimal. Prime example, Battlefield 4.

You'll be able to spot tiny differences here & there, if you're being picky...But the game will virtually look the same. (only with a 60fps & better resolution)... Even the PS3 & 360 versions of the game aren't that shockingly different. (inferior textures here & there, & lower resolution but it's not that shocking)...

That's why these cross-gen title comparisons are a bit pointless.

Again, if you want to see "next gen" graphics, just look at triple A exclusive platform titles. (such as quantum break, Order 1886, Infamous SS, Ryse)..

On some rare occasions, you'll see shocking differences on some cross-gen titles..
Crysis 3 comes to mind... (Just compare the PC version on ultra-setting to the 360/PS3)...

for those who don't have a Sony Bravia flat screen at least 32 inches or more and an hdmi cord need to do for 1080p hd (for some games like COD) and 720p hd for all the others need to do so, it makes a big difference, if you have a ps3 it makes a big difference, it's almost like buying another game system with better graphics, and they came out with ps4 to soon, because the highest hd is 1080p and that was a big jump from the ps2, plus all that ps3 offers and the manorisms. Wasn't ps4 suppose to be as real as real life? if you say they don't have the technology to make it as real as real life then that's bullshit. This isn't the 90's/early 2000's anymore and with the big advancement in technology in the last 10 years they should be able to, they just don't want to because they won't be able to make new consoles for money, so now were at a point where graphics won't get much better cause they want to go slow.

and this is the first mlb game on the ps4 imagine lets say...mlb 2016!!!

I'm a little disappointed I would say that nba 2k14 is the only game on next gen that acctually made big upgrades on their next gen game
