I was going to buy a 580 model over the internet a few weeks ago, but I decided to go to a music store and try a it and a few other flutes first. I’m glad I did because the 580 was actually hard for me to play. I ended up getting a Yamaha YFL-462 last weekend. So I highly recommend trying the flutes first before you buy. It’s so cool FCNY lets you do that! It’s not a purchase to be taken lightly.

I purchased the 580 from FCNY. This was an upgrade from a student level flute that I had been playing since high school. I have continued playing over the years as a creative outlet. I tried out at least six flutes and this was the winner for me in the end. This is such a rich sounding flute and I could really project my sound. Of course, I would have loved more silver in a flute, but they were just too heavy for me.
