The pcb looks brown because of the copper traces, this due to less layers on the pcb to help reduce the cost of the board.
In a case that isn't lit up you wont notice it much anyway.

"Budget"? Its $130. There are still good Z97 boards out there below $100 (with better aesthetics).
Not to mention that there are tons of non-Z motherboards can still overclock for below $70.
A proper term is "value" orientated motherboard.

if u go with z97 then there is no "budget" thing go with z87 or less and get more feature on motherboard
