The harness ( where I live ) by Swedish law is supposed to be attached by a dog belt with a buckle buckle down to the seat otherwise your dog will go flying if you crash or even emergency breaking could easily seriously injure or kill your dog otherwise. You can also have them in the baggage space if you have a netting between the backseat and the baggage area. And a crate if your dog is small. I support these laws we have here in Sweden and they’re really not hard to keep to for the safety of our little babies. I know the laws are different in America, but I would recommend our requirements for any dog owner to make sure everyone’s pups are truly safe.
