Legendary singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot dies at 84

Canadian folk legend Gordon Lightfoot, who topped the U.S. charts with the hit, "Sundown," has died at the age of 84. NBC News' Chris Clackum reports.

His music reached down to San Diego to a refuge family from Vietnam. And when I think of singer-songwriters, I can't help but think of his song, "If You Could Read My Mind". What a master painter in terms of writing. Thank you, Mr. Lightfoot, for creating beautiful works as you have that move the human spirit. "Beautiful" is a song for which I can only imagine what the love of my life - if I were to ever be lucky enough to have - would feel like.

My grandparents introduced me to his music when I was a kid and have so many memories of listening to his music. I am so thankful I got the chance to listen to his music.
