I've got a ton of the 90s paints, they are still good! Old school will always the best, in pretty much everything...

Used to love the GW shops back then when it was a more a community than a shop.

You're welcome ;) The older paints were 2nd hand when I bought them back in the mid 90s - glad they're still of use!

Check out the Warcolors Nostalgia 94 paints they are supposed to be the same recipe as the original Citadel 94 paint range. Some miniature painters on YouTube have used them and apparently they are a very close match to said Citadel paints. I have bought some but haven't used them yet and I am excited to how they perform.

Those old GW adverts and magazine shots give memories. I did play 3rd edition but stopped. I liked Mordheim for that old warband skirmish feel.

My old P3 paint is old enough to legally drink and still works just fine.

Garth like paint with good lead in them for extra brain damage !

Coat darms rock. Other great paints in the classical mode are p3 and warcolours nostalgia 88 line. You can get coat darms from direct from black hat miniatures or order through their importer in u.s. scale creep miniatures

Between watching many of your painting streams and this video, I am starting to feel a bit of regret with investing into a modern Citadel paint collection. I also like the aesthetics of the original 90's models. Maybe I will pick up some original and/or Coat d'Arms paints and do some comparisons, such as a half-and-half tactical squad.

Good vid mate and totally agree about the old skill paints mate as they are still good after 30 years old. The new Citadel paints are just terrible to be kind and The CdA paints and the Nostalgia 88 paints are brilliant incase you hadn't t heard of that range from Warcolors.

GW paint is just bad. The pigment is poor for the price. The open top bottles are bad (more air exposure means more drying out. that's why people always complain about drying out. the newer ones are more nefarious with a lip because they want you to paint out of the pot vs using a wet palette and buy more paint). I remember GW paints used to be screw on jars which mean that they dried out quicker. They used to be worse than now. I would go with professional miniature paint companies who have more pigment and professional paint bottles designed to not dry out. Scale 75 is GW priced but better. If you want something cheaper but as good as Scale 75, Pro Acryl (22 ml and a glass agitator). If you're really good with color theory and paints, Kimera is more pigmented than even scale 75 (and more expensive). I agree with you with Vallajo metal color is probably the best metallic (saw those) for using aluminum rather than mica pigments. Vallajo and Reaper are also better with closed bottles. I think wet palette is a must for acrylics.
