What Do You Love About Programing?

At the annual Grace Hopper event for women in computing, TechCrunch TV asked software engineers: What is it that they love about the act of building things through code? I program for my own needs (or my friends if they need something), if I needed a program that does something I need I write it, I wrote many programs in different languages to solve my math and physics problems, I do reverse engineering for fun.That's why I love to program.

I program and code because that’s what I want to do when I’m older lul and I find it cool to what it makes so... hell yea!

I once had a colleague at work who told me that she could not stand staring at numbers all day. She thought programming was about numbers since it's about computers. I told her programming is about logic and about using rules in a creative way to achieve a goal. She refused to believe me lol. Most of the time in programming you are problem-solving, which is a very creative process.

Just in case, I am male. I appreciated that women specifically were show cased for this video of programmers. Males outnumber women by much in the field. I've read various articles of women dropping out of the field too and not completing the CS degree they started, etc. Women power in computer science, I say.

This was so like sexism I'm just playing
