Als Diawl Bach (Before the Red Devil there was this!)

This is a very old pattern that came to the Soldier Palmers team via the team captain at the time, Alan Ward. It was a close hold pattern 15 or so years ago but has fallen out of favour of late. It has pretty much been replaced by a fly from Peter Harrop called the Red Devil, which is much simpler to tie. I still have a few of these in my box though down to #14 and they have dug me out of a hole more than once. If you have the inclination it is worth the time and effort to whittle a few up they will not disapoint!

Lovely fly and demonstration. :-) 'Prismatic' because it reflects light as if from the faces of a prism. :-)

Used to be tied on B175 and B160, not sure of the weight of the hook your using now mate..B160 was used for when the fish was close to the surface.. Size 12 and 14 too.

I wish YouTube would let you swear and monetise at the same time. I’d be in my way to the big time. Less editing too. 😅
