Eufy 4G Starlight Security Camera Review - Features, Unboxing, Installation, Testing

Today, we are going to review the Eufy 4G Starlight Security Camera which is battery powered and can be hooked up to Eufy's Solar Panel for Forever Power. This doesn't need WiFi, internet or even electricity to work. It uses 4G cellular and you will need to have a data plan. Not all of Eufy’s products are perfect. I am on my third floor light pro camera. They always either stop detecting motion or do not allow me to log in even after all of the troubleshooting steps provided by their warranty tech support. I got into eufy products because you review products very well. I do have the battery doorbell and that thing works great 😊

Thanks for the review! Very helpful. There are actually SO many features on the app I have the hardest time remembering where everything is. Wish it was a little simpler but so far I'm satisfied. The exception to it is that the battery is not working in one of them and I need to recharge it but I will not be at that property for awhile. The solar charging that takes place in the day though is not enough to ever let me see old footage or even the current shot. I cannot even change any settings on the camera because it is "offline". There was some exhaust from the furnace pipe that got triggered footage when setting was "human only" which was surprising to me. Their customer service has been helpful too.

In the Amazon reviews for this camera 3 users say the following:

1. Shawn C: motion detection is good since you can make your own zone so it is not going off all the time
2. Debra Brinkman: and set to alarm area to certain zones that you choose.
3. KenBar: easy to change alarm zones
but I noticed you did not mention anything about the ability to set custom "Motion Detecting Zones"
Does this software allow you to do this....? when you reviewed this camera did it have the latest firmware/software...? do you have anyway to know the versions...?

Great video! Eufy has such a WIDE range of cameras and options. Little "pricey" and the 4G pricing also gives it a "ding" for me. But I'm sure MANY people will love this camera! The delay of notifications could be a "deal-breaker" for some and as you mentioned may just be a 4G thing. As far as video quality, not too "convinced" on the 2K at night or day. The reason I say this is I use a few Ring Indoor cameras mounted behind the glass using color night vision "looking" outside my home and at 1080P the video quality is better than this cameras even at night and not so distorted (just my opinion).

Does this camera have the security tab home/armed feature where it sounds the siren and flashes the spotlight automatically when it detects motion like the Eufy S40?

very nice detailed review, however I think you missed a VERY important detail: How far will the camera detect you at night...? you showed during daylight it was 40' but at night (without any led light from the cam but just IR) it could be a totally different story.

Here’s a hack for you LH.
With eufy, I find the insert the goes between the ball and fixing mount, falls out if mounted upside down.
All you need to do is use a sharp Stanley knife, make an slice in the middle of the 2 location tabs.
This will make just enough swell to hold the insert while you screw the camera home.

I plan on using this as a trail camera where I search for lost pets. Eufy charges $10/month for 2 gigs but I can easily use that in a day because of the wind setting of the camera and lots of cat activity. I wonder if Eufy measures the data differently.
