It’s simply a better shot, particularly for poor FT shooters. The backspin increases odds of it dropping into the cylinder. He tried to coach Shaq. If it weren’t for Shaq’s ego, he could have completely nullified the effect of “hack-a-Shaq” and arguably gone down as the undisputed greatest big man ever.
