A very nice introduction video, THANKS. However, the radius REALLY matters in the real world!! For example, there are many applications that require the radius to be significally larger than the length of the solenoid. The IDEAL solenoid is actually not used (as far as I know after designing many over the years)...for example...in INDUCTION HEATERS, MRI's, MAGLEVS (MAGNETIC TRAINS), METAL FORMERS, etc. I have done many numerical-based graphical calculation of the B-field, (based in the Biot-Savart law). In a practical world, it doesn't look like the one shown.
The title should include "IDEAL SOLENOID". "Biot-Savart" implies non-ideal curves.
Again, thanks for the video...

Thanks for the video, and here's a superset formula:
B = μ*(N/l)*I
# B: field inside the solenoid
# μ: permeability
# N: number of loops
# l: length of solenoid
# (N/l): turns per length
# I: current
μ0 = 4*π * 10.0^-7

First of all great video, thanks. I have to mention something though. At 3.50 I dont know if we should say the radius doesnt matter. Because the fact is, it actually matter. It is just represented by the N/l part. if you think about it, if we try to make two times loop with the same length of wire, its going to mean we make the radius half, so...

Thanks Jenny ... that was perfect ... you "taught me how to fish" with this explanation ... and now I can move on to other things with a good degree of understanding.
I really appreciate that you took the trouble to explain the little details and their links to other things that we sometimes forget about! Must be a womans spark! :-)

Would the solenoid be stronger if instead of ferric inside we put in a long neodymium magnet ? To protect magnet we can put it in a metal tube ?

very nicely explained i was having difficulty in knowing what was going o

Inside solenoid field direction is from "S" to " N".Is it right ????

Why doesn't the voltage matter on that equation

It does not describes it well.u should show the prove..
