Piccolo saves a Boy and his Mother

This was at the time when he was considered evil and yet he was still noble in his heart.

He just wanted to be loved and accepted. Even though he was the reincarnation of his father, he was another being for himself. Remember when he was a child, seeing that happy family celebrating the birthday od their son? He broke the window with a stone n entered the house to steal the boy's present, which was a helicopter toy. The dad of the boy chased him out and he escaped, crushing the toy in the meantime. He was just jealous of the little happy boy, having a lovely family and parents, while he was left to grow up alone in the woods, surviving on his own. I believe that is the reason why he left Gohan alone for 6 months before starting to train him, but created a strong bond with him afterwards. He wanted to show him how it feels to grow up n survive on your own, but also wantes to show him what true friendship means, something he lacked during his childhood. All in all Piccolo's character development is outstanding and we will always love him.

I think if piccolo truly wanted to take over the world, he would've done it by now even after the defeat from goku. I feel like he could've started in small village, get stronger or search for the dragon ball, but I think what he really wanted was to be accepted by other people which goku kinda did at the end of og and gohan in the beginning of z.

Scenes like this make me wonder how his father would see him today, as we all have been able to thankfully. Imagine if we didn't have Piccolo. I'm just not able to. Even though his father was an evil piece of shite, i think King Piccolo would look up (cause we all know he surely isn't looking down on anyone after the life he lead lol) at Jr and have no choice in the end but to feel admirable towards his son. I have a huge feeling that once he saw how powerful his son can become with the love and help from his friends.. he would think differently. But i feel as though despite the admiration, he will never be able to accept how his son lost the spark for domination. He will be that old bitter fart who scolds his son for not using his powers for his own gain. Love this old content so much 🥹

I remember first watching this in 1997 in Greece. I didn't know what would follow, every episode of Dragon Ball was new to me. I said to myself "OK, PIccolo's son is a good guy". When his training with Gohan began, I was sure Piccolo was actually one of the heroes.

When I watched this as a child before knowing DBZ (DB here came before DBZ), I thought he destroyed the rocks just to train/test his powers, and not to save someone.
