South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) had a strong presence at Euronaval 2022, with the CVX aircraft carrier project as the centerpiece of their booth.

=====================

K. S. Woo, Senior Vice President of marketing, Naval & Sepcial Ship Business Unit, introduced HHI as the #1 shipbuilder in the world. We then focused on two ongoing programs for the Philippine Navy:
- HDP-2200 OPV
- HDF-3100 Corvette

Hyundai Heavy Industries signed a contract with the Philippine Department of National Defense on June 27, 2022 for six new 2,400 ton Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV).

In December 2021, HHI announced it won an order to build two 3,200 ton class corvettes for the Philippine Navy.

At this moment, there are ONLY two countries. France and South Korea are two of the best choice to order Frigates, OPV, Corvette and Submarines. These 2 countries are very reliable when it comes to warships ...

What's interesting is that the Corvette design can be easily redesignated as a Frigate, and I wouldn't be surprised if the PN did after delivery or even before.

And the the OPV design only needs a few upgrades and up-arming to be redesignated as Corvettes, at least that's what I think.

Must include future option of 32 high-altitude lightweight defense missiles such as Barak LRSAM for full frigate upgrade since it's supposed to mainly deploy in the high-threat WPS, & so NOT waste the weight of 3100 tons for a mere heavy corvette. The problem is space but there's a huge unused space between rearbridge & chimney: a deck can be added to place (relocate) the cruise missiles there (like in Gowind design & other designs), & this frees huge space to lengthen the rear-deckhouse to which FFBNW VLS can be added. Also foredeck must be fully-covered just like on HDF-3800 for reduced radar signature & enhanced seaworthiness. Then raised helideck for mission bay just like that HDP-2400 & HDF-3800. And the foredeck VLS moved backwards to fit a 2nd RWS gun (FFBNW if current budget won't fit) behind the maingun

Philippine Navy should add another 16-cell VLS for the HDC-3100 later on to make it a true frigate comparable to RSN Formidable. Then reclassify JRC as corvette, and make additional orders but improved version like 16-cell VLS instead of only 8 on par with Gowind. For Horizon 3 AAW frigate, PN should consider HDF-4000/3800 or FDI with a combination of medium and long range VLS.
