Finally, someone said it. And Nepalese take pride in being recruited by other countries. Our corrupted country would never help them out, we are that helpless... My dad was in the Kargil war in 1999, his health condition was very weak and he resigned from the army afterward. Until now his health has not yet fully recovered. He told me his friends were shot dead right at the side. 2 bullets passed near his ears. Just hearing it gives me a chill. I ain't allowing my brother to join any army.
Thanks to our ancestor's sacrifice, we can now reside outside Nepal. Looking forward to the video about "Lachhiman Gurung" which you promised in the video. I'm willing to support again for that video. We should not fail to give respect to our legends when people in other countries brag about their success and make a biography to let the whole world know. It is necessary because our youths all around the world should know their roots, esp content like this.

This is exactly what i have been preaching Nepali people for a decade. Gurkhali haru lai "vada ko tattu", "Desh drohi", "Pound ma bikeko" vanney Nepali haru lai thaha nai chaina pakka itihaas ra hamro bau bajey ko sangharsha. And it's a fact that in western societies more people know Nepal as a land of Gurkha than they know it as a land of Sagarmatha or Buddha. I have met several westerners who knows Nepal because of Gurkhas. Let's have some deep respect for our farefathers who fought against all odds being exploited by both British and Nepali government without any reparations. Because of them we are what we are today.

I am immensely proud to be a part of the Gurkha community. Both sides of my family, on my father's and mother's side, have deep connections to the Gurkha heritage. My great-grandfather on my mother's side fought in the Second World War. Our entire family, from both my father's and mother's sides, now resides in the UK and Hong Kong, including myself here in the UK. I carry this legacy with great pride and honour. Proud to be a Gurkha.

Both my grandfather from dad and mom side is British Gurkha Army. They fought in Malaysian war and Hongkong . My dad is Indian Army and was posted in Kargil war. All of them sacrificed a lot fighting for British and India but their children are having good life though because of their sacrifice.
My grandfathers monthly pension are more than the Bank manager's salary. They get fully funded free medicines and checkups. Most of my family members are settled in UK and Hongkong and have a very decent life. All of this wouldn't be possible without being in the army.
My point is they joined the army because there were not much employment back then and no opportunities for study. So joining the army was best option for them.
Its sad that gurkhas had to suffer during rana regime and world war. However, my grandfathers and father joined after those period of time so they were lucky I guess. Thank you for making videos on them

Serving Gurkha (Gorkha) here. Well researched presentation but some key dates and events of significance are missing from here. I won't mention them all but some of these are: (1) the return of "naya muluk" - the four districts of Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur were gifted to Nepal after the successful Gurkha campaign during Indian Mutiny. (2) Gurkhas/Gorkhas have a big role in the recognition of Nepal as a sovereign state, well ahead of India and other South Asian countries. That recognition by the Britsh was one of the main reasons why India couldn't annex Nepal like with many other principalities that are now part of India; the last one to be annexed was Sikkim in 1975. However, that didn't stop Jawaharlal Nehru from trying.
