surgery removal of vocal cord nodules

This video shows removal of singers nodules/ benign vocal cord nodules. It requires significant skills to remove these 3 mm nodules using 10 inch long instruments. A microscope is used to achieve highest possible precision. During the procedure, the outer layer called epithelium is incised and the nodule with its scar tissue component shelled out from underneath. It is of utmost importance to not remove any of the underlying superficial lamina propria/gelatinous material and to prevent tearing of the epithelium in order to achieve the best possible outcome. This is important for vocal performers, such as singers.
