Haniyeh’s Final Days: From Gaza to Tehran
Ismail Haniyeh was born in Gaza in 1963. He graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza in 1987 and helped found Hamas that same year. Arrested by Israel in 1989, he was deported to southern Lebanon. In 2006, Haniyeh became Palestine's Prime Minister but was removed in 2007. He became the head of Hamas' Political Bureau in 2017 and has lived in exile in Qatar recently. Haniyeh was a key figure in the resistance movement.
On July 31, 2024, Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli attack while attending Iran’s new president Pizishkiyan's inauguration in Tehran.
