Makeup by Kira Stevens

From Carmanah's album 'Speak in Rythms'
“‘Nightmare’ is yearning for the arms of a loved one when you don’t feel safe,” the band told Indie88 via email. “It describes how the ease of ignorance enables us to continue overusing and abusing what little we have left on this planet. We are faced with two options: Keep your eyes closed and live in blissful destruction or open your eyes and acknowledge the mess. Only one of these choices has a future.” ~ Laura Mina Mitic

Nightmare:

Hey take me home for the nights are killing me
Hey take me home and then lay me down to weep

Lay my tired bones inside a tuck amore tree
And lay my crooked spine on a naked bed of leaves

I can see a nightmare with my open eyes.

Shame the wasteful world as it’s falling back to sleep
And claim the beaten ground as their own for them to keep

I can see a nightmare with my open eyes
I can see a nightmare with my open eyes

Hey take my breath, take my limbs from under me

I can see a nightmare with my open eyes
I can see a nightmare with my open eyes
I can see a nightmare with my open eyes

How I miss your body
How I miss your soul.
How I miss your body
How I miss your soul.

Hey take me home, for the night….

Incredible Carmanah and vIdeographer, you nailed it! So relevant to today's forestry practices and greed.

Love this song/video and was even more excited when the video reminded me of "home" having lived on the Island for many years! Thrilled that you put into words the sorrowful abuse that is hidden Thank you!

The album Speak In Rhythms is just amazing. I've probably listened to it at least 10 times.

In some ways it reminds me of another excellent Canadian band Cano. Their Spirit of the North album is also fantastic. That was over 40 years ago.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I know of. It is ugly at the same time and such is the world! Thanks for the song Carmanah. Everyone should call the forest home. I want to live in the tropical forest. I've been to Hawaii twice. The ocean is warm and teeming with life!
I have the song frozen right now halfway through. It is so painful to listen to. I just practiced my kung fu. It stays with you forever. It is my trusted companion. I'm glad you got into music. I know a lot of really professional musicians and they are beautiful! You have to be so right on to play kung fu or music.
I know a guy who teaches musical composition! He gets to listen to the music kids make! My dad used to have a few bass students just for fun. Peace. One Love. Hippy Mike the artist.

We have some old growth that is protected on Whidbey Island. I think some of it is still endangered! I used to camp for a year under the redwoods with the wild orchids and creeks in Santa Cruz, CA. We need to make laws and policy to end environmental degradation and reverse it in fact. It wouldn't be too difficult.
This song gives me intense psychedelic Earth thoughts and makes me cry. Thanks for the trip!!
I grew up in Hollywood in the Hills. I lived in a party house and we had wild parties with gangsters, musicians, producers, actors, writers and all types of interesting people and their drugs. I will get straight to the point and say that Hollywood has some of the worst smog in the world! It ties with Denver, Colorado and gets beaten out by Mexico City. Los Angeles is totally disgusting. You can drive from the ocean to Palm Springs in about two and a half hours and it is just thick city all the way. 1 in 8 Americans live in California and 1 in 10 live in Southern third of Cali. Peace. One Love. Mike. Your music has inspired me to become politically active! I will write politicians everywhere and tell them about my feelings. Everyone has feelings and some people just don't seem to understand that! Peace out. Thanks for the music. You are very considerate and helpful. I really appreciate it. It will give me a good focus in life. I have been active with ganja legalization for over 20 years so this is a natural step to take. If everyone became active it would change things. One Love True Indeed. I am a grandmaster of the Burmese and FIlipino "cold" weaponry. I hate firearms and war. I know how to use incredibly powerful language in my letters. Trump wrote me back and says he wants to legalize ganja in my country. That would help and everyone should hear Carmanah! I am feeling like hiring you for a private performance! It would be like a really expensive trip! Thanks again. Mike Neidlinger AKA Mikey Neides the mafia corpse. Do you want to hear some of my gangster rap? It is totally

Clear cutting is a horrible nightmare. Cutting the old growth forests will take our breath away. Just read S. Simards Finding the Mother Tree, we need to preserve what is left

Here's a link to a live presentation of Cano. I think the band Carmanah would appreciate this. And you can get both albums (Spirit of the North [Cano] and Speak In Rhythms [Carmanah] on the major streaming platforms.

So to interpret this video, is this meant to represent how we city folk spend too little time appreciating mother nature? Cuz if so, yeah I can definitely relate to that.

kinda funna they are both singing, with their eyes closed,
"I can see a nightmare
With my open eyes"

I love the whole Speak In Rhythmns album
this video doesn't do anything for me...
