In this video I will present the top 5 takeaways from The Alchemy of Finance, a book written by the legendary investor George Soros. “The man who moves market” George Soros has made a fantastic fortune through his investment hedge funds Quantum Fund and Soros Fund Management. He’s currently sitting at about $8.3 billion and has donated more than $32 billion. His strategy for beating the market is quite different from many other legendary investors but has proven to be incredibly profitable over his investing career.

Top 5 takeaways from The Alchemy of Finance by George Soros:
00:00 Intro
01:14 5. Natural science vs Social science
03:27 4. Using a faulty model is more dangerous than using no model at all
05:28 3. "Reflexivity"
08:03 2. The boom-bust model
10:43 1. The stock market is a laboratory for testing hypotheses

My goal with this channel is to help you make more money and improve your personal finances. How to become a millionaire? There are many ways to get there – investing in the stock market, becoming a stock trader, doing real estate investing, or why not becoming an entrepreneur? But whether you are interested in how to invest in stocks or investing strategies for creating passive income with rental properties – I hope to be able to provide you with a solution (or at least an idea) here. Warren Buffett - the greatest investor of our time - says that you should fill your mind with competing ideas and then see what makes sense to you. This channel is about filling your mind with those ideas. And in the process – upgrading your money-making toolbox.

I can imagine soros saying:

The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be UNNATURAL

When he talks about reflectivity, it sounds like Soros is basically describing bubbles.

Ive been your subscriber for almost a year now, your channel inspires me to read more books on investing. The animation in the videos makes it easier to understand and I love it. Every time look for a good finance book, I always look it up to your channel first :D
and btw what app do you use on making the animations?

6:11 Yes it does. It's called Autopoiesis originally, or Natural Drift / Enaction later on. I had no idea Soros came up with a similar explanation to a history of interactions and mutual influence, between individuals and their surroundings / reality. Cool video!

Great book. I love when philosophy meets investing. Carl Icahn also has a degree in philosophy.

Reflexivity could be compared to the Schrödinger's Cat Paradox. The cat is considered both dead snd alive at the same time due to the uncertainty.

Thanks for these videos, I find them very informative. I do have a question though: How do you manage to read and summarize all these books so quickly? Also how much can you roughly earn with your current viewer base? I’m currently seriously considering what I can do to as a 2nd revenue stream apart from my regular job. Thanks for your advice.

Hi there, The videos are really well made and informative. It gives a good overview of the entire book. What software are you using to make this kind of explainer videos? I want to give it a try to teach my students.

Abstract? It's market psychology that predicts everyone's stop losses and take profits and how that impacts the support and resistance, which in turn impact buying/selling pressure, which impacts investor's analysis, which predicts people's decisions.

The same psychology is used in marketing, big data/predictive modeling, politics, etc. It's not predictability it's probability.
