Yes, I'm an idiot, Cobain checked out in '94. Please accept these time stamps as an apology:

Midwinter Minis: Starts talking about his Dad and how he'd be proud.
Every guy watching: "I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING."

So my son, is big into D&D, he asked if his step mother and I would take him to the local shop near us, we went, because he is a good kid, well while we were there, I became interested in warhammer, and my wife discovered she absolutely loves painting miniatures, and my son asked if we could play warhammer, long story short I’m slowly building an Ork army and he is building space marines, and I enjoy it because it is something we are all bonding over, and your story about your father, was very touching to me, thank you for sharing

Your Dad would have been thrilled, but I'm sure he was already proud.

I just re-watched this. I made it 3:30 before I started crying. Guy, you’ve shared something tender and wonderful with us. I believe in a way, that same love your father has had for you echos on through your content. You bring that same spirit of community and joyful fun that this hobby can bring which is the core of why all should participate. Thank you, thank you, thank you my friend. Never stop being the relatable person you are. It’s a pure pleasure to watch and share in your hobby experience. -Dave

My Dad drove me to a nearby GW store . This set was where i started. He was my first opponent and he was there when i took first in the final battle for Albinion with my Skaven. That battle became official fluff.

Oh the nostalgia! I still remember my parents taking me into a Games Workshop in '96 and the staff taking me through a demo game, of course I walked out with this box :) Then mowing lawns to buy all the IG tanks.

As a dad who has 3 sons who all grew up on 40k and who has a wife who also paints and plays I can hand on heart say how proud I would be had I passed and left such deep and meaningful memories.

M&M: Starts talking about experiences with dad

Me: "That's great!"

M&M: "My dad died in his sleep last year."

Me: *"Ah"*

How it went for me in 1993:
"Mum/Dad, I want Warhammer 40, 000."
"How much is it?"
"£40." (It might've been £35 - I can't remember)
"Not a chance."

I got Space Hulk in the 90s and playing with my father was our first real bonding. He was always the Space Marines and he always won. He died unexpectedly last year just before I passed my teaching qualifications and it's only now that I can look at back at the things we shared without pain. Thank you for sharing your story.

Absolutely beautiful, thanks so much for sharing this with us! Those robust 2nd edition marines are some of my favorites for painting and repainting to learn how to use my airbrush. Many many layers on those lads ;-) Can't wait to see what you do with the paintjob!

I love my dad, and I can't say he's a bad father by any stretch of the imagination, but hearing that story about your dad made me realize that my dad and I don't really have much in common. He never kept me from enjoying any of my hobbies or forced his on me, but he also never really had any interest in mine or even trying to learn about them so I ended up not doing much with him until I started studying engineering at the same university he went to.

You had a great dad, and I'm sure he'd be proud of you and the channel.

Midwinter minis: "serious emotional weight, and plenty of nostalgia"
Everyone watching: *hugs device hoping he knows how much he make our days better and how much of an inspiration in the hobby he is to us*

Honestly I wasn't expecting to get brought to tears by an unboxing video... Heartwarming tribute ! I didn't know your dad nor your father/son relationship but I'm certain he was proud of you !
