Guitar Tone Knob | HOW IT'S USED

The tone knob is one of the least used and commonly misunderstood elements of the electric guitar. In this video I'll explain what it does and some common musical uses of the tone knob. Be sure to check out my other videos in my HOW IT'S USED series explaining the basics of electric guitar.

For my signal chain I'm running my Strandberg Boden Classic right into an MOTU M2 audio interface and I'm using Neural DSP's Archetype: Plini plugin for all amp sounds right in my DAW Digital Performer.

So basically, if the tone knob is lower it would work well with jazz, indie and pop, but if it's higher it'll work well with rock, and heavy metal type of songs?

awesome. the tone level makes a lot of difference on clean/light overdrive sound.

cool when the tone knob is on zero it kinda sounds like its someone playing it in the next room. Also what other effects were you using when you were playing the examples?

Is it the pick ups which kind of doing the same thing? How to combine them

It is to vary the filter cutoff frequency over time and sound like really cool synths.

i´m sorry to bother you but can you answer me this question? i have one pickup guitar and, is it possible to use a 2 way switch as a tone control rather than change the pickups? by doing this i´d have a totally open or a totally closed tone. Thank you.
