The caller id on the basic service will display only the phone number, unless you have it in your contact list - in which case it will also show the name. If you pay for the premier service i believe it has "enhanced caller-id" which should show you most names without having them in your contact list. For me i just imported my google contacts and we very quickly had a nice big contacts list and caller id works just fine.

I think they suggest connecting before the router so that the Ooma can prioritize itself over other traffic, but I just have it connected after the router and have never had issues.

I believe you can, you just have to make sure any external phone lines are disconnected I believe.

Can you connect the phone jack on the Ooma to the wall and have phone service for all phone jacks in the home?

bought Ooma, hooked up easily, liked everything about it. UNTIL I tried to make a phone call. Ooma seems to have forgotten to tell consumers that it doesn`t work with Satellite internet. Had to disconnect, re-box, and return. I`m pissed.

I don't have an actual satellite phone. The "satellite phones" that I was speaking of are regular phones, but they are add-on phones that connect to the one base unit. So I can plug in the one base unit in the basement next to the Ooma Telo and router, and then have the add-on or "satellite" phones in other areas of the house, but still connected to the one phone without using a phone line. Sorry if that was unclear.

It's a "Tell-0" not a "tee low". Just like you use it to call on a telephone, not a tee-laphone.

Wait----The Ooma website says it takes WEEKS to port over your old number.
