In previous episodes we learnt that we required the more powerful battery before we could undertake the final Starter Motor Test to confirm that it works, is correctly wired, and - more importantly - turns the motor adequately. Well we've had the battery a while but have been recently engrossed in other motor challenges and oil tests which have now been resolved. So let's get back to that starter at last.

Glad you got proof of oil pressure this time. To do all that work and then grenade the engine would leave me morose to say the least. I'm a bit concerned about the size of the more powerful battery. Back in the day, guys would shove bigger batteries in those bikes only to have the terminals short out on the metal seat pan and damage wiring. Good luck and press on!

Hi Angus .. I have spent the last month or so binge watching all of your video's. fascinating stuff ! I have LOTS of classic Honda projects from the 1960'/1970's including 3 CB250K0's and a CB350K1, all 1969. However, the BSA/Triumph DOHC 350 project has always fascinated me and it's a bike I could have definitely seen myself owning, if it had ever got into volume production. I took your advice and bought the book on the final days of BSA, which I am still reading and that too is a fascinating read and dispelled some of the myths about Humberslade Hall. This is probably going to sound like red rag to a bull but could a CB350K auto advance be possibly adapted to fit the DOHC 350 BSA? Or perhaps one from a CB450 twin? I could certainly donate you CB350K if it was feasible. I suppose it all depends on the advance characteristics. I am an electronics engineer but I agree with you that for the small mileage that most classics do, then the good old Kettering coil & points ignition is fine and less prone to component failure.
