Its actually, "...while holding down the CTRL key" 🤔

With holding down the SHIFT key, you do select the first cell you need, then the last cell you need, and all the cells between the 1st one and the last one becomes select, too. It can be also a range like from A1 to C3. It's useful, when you need to do a hugeselection, like 1000 cells. So you don't need to drag the mouse all the time.
