This makes me want to visit Iran just to get to see those saffron farms. This stunning intricacy is of such a beauty, I can't even imagine how it must feel like to stand amidst the thousands of crocus flowers.

Im Iranian and in Iran, saffron is pronounced with a Z, so Zaffron, and it is such a household day to day item. Like 80 percent of my rice foods have it.

A really cool trick I learned from my Persian friends is, after you make the rice (without saffron) you take 1/4 of the rice and add saffron to it. Then you mix it in with the remainder of the plain rice. It makes the presentation beautiful. The plain rice is flecked with beautiful golden rice. It tastes, smells and looks delicious. Always cook up Saffron with water. Fats play against bringing out the richest colors.
